I visited the career center online since im only on campus during the evenings. It gave me career connection and a place to do my resume. It also gave my the opition of making an appointment with a career counselor plus it showed my governmental job/ internships that i could apply for. This website is extremely help it this time were job are hard to find and you have bigger and more advance people going out for the same job as you are.

Summary of Reading an Writing

I found out that there is alot of reading and writing when it comes to Accouting. The reason for that is that most accounting work that you do is by yourself, although there are some times when you have to work in a group the majority of the time it is only you. So when it comes to reading and writing it is extremely important that you are able to convay your thoughts on to paper so that other people are able to understand what your trying to say, where you are coming from and how you got their. If you dont know how to write down the information that you have gathered could get other people in trouble when it comes to their money and also if you dont know how to put your information down all the reasearch that you have been doing can be lost with in your whole presentation and then forgotten.

THIS WEBSITE HELPS BECAUSE IT GIVES U JOB OPENING IN GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTING AND GIVES U UP DATES IN POLICY AND THEN OFFERS TRAINING CLASSES THAT YOU CAN TAKE TO BRUSH UP ON WHAT IS NEW POLICIES OR RULES ARE NEW IN THE ACCOUNTING WORLD. journal on accounting

The journal part is not going to be something that i enjoy, in fact i find it extremely boring and dull. But since i have to do it and their isn't a lot to choose from, i will be looking at the The Governmental Accountant Jounal for my research into governmental accounting. It is a magazine that forces on governmental accounting if you didn't know that from the title. I am not sure how this is going to help me since both people that i interview said that they normal don't read accounting book unless they have to for research so yea.

What i have to go through at CSUS.....

When looking at a major one of the first things you look at is the units. Well the business department the concentrations run between 66-75 units. My major is the highest at 75 units totally, which easily breaks down to 18 units of required lower division, 30 units of required upper division, and 27 units of core classes. A lot...yea i know...and this doesn't even count the extra 18 units for my second major.

So after i picked my major the first thing i did was look at what classes i had to take. Like the rest of the business student population i had to take the required lower and upper division classes, but besides from those i have to take ACCY 111,112,121,131,171, and then four of the following 113,117,122,132,141,142, 161, 172, 190, 199. Some of the professors that i can expect to encounter or have encounter are: Beirne, Brecht, Corless, Crow, Davis, Kim, Lui, Meyer, Pforsich, Wunder, and Xiong

All in all i have a lot of work ahead of me......

Looking at accy through someone elses eyes

I am currently in the process of interviewing Dave Ralls who works as an accountant for the County of Sacramento Waste Management Department. Since i want to work for some type of government position i thought it would be good to interview a person that hold the position that i would like to have in 5 to 10 years. David has been working their since august of 2006 and is a senior accountant. Although he doesn't like to read anything that has to do with accounting, he enjoys his job because of the stability that it provides to him and his family. The other person that interviewed was professor crow. He has been teaching since Fall 1987 and has been teaching at sac state since fall of 1989. He graduated from University of Kansas and specializes in tax. He believes that accountant is made up of many different branch's that together make the accounting branch.

Knowledge is the key to ur sucess.....

My Major is Accounting and how much do i know about it....probably very little. There is sooo much you can do with an accounting major and depending on what u want to do...depends on what you no. I think that just because u don't know that much about your major doesn't mean its not the right one for you. I'm here in school to learn about accounting, what to except and how to do it. I know somethings from watching other people do it but from what i have learned in other situations....i shouldn't always trust what u think u see or what u think u hear because u maybe terribly wrong. So im going to go into this with a open mind and a open heart expecting the unexpected.

Accounting

Why am i attracted to accounting? I have always been good at math, it has just been something that has come really easy to me. So when people tell me what I should do with my life most people will say accounting or human resources, which turns out to be my other major.
It always funny to watch peoples reaction to me when i tell them that im a double business major, first they are surprised that im doing a double major, then after i tell them what im majoring in and they get this im soo sorry look on their face and then ask me, "why?" Although i really dont know that much about accounting except what i have learned in class, im extremely interested in this profession. It fits my staying in the box nature. Although i have my "in the closet personality", as my friends say, im very comfortable with doing this as my career.
It also helps that it pays well.

how is my major linked to my profession

Well my major is accounting and my profession is governmental accounting so i think when it comes down to it my profession and major is pretty much the same thing. Although i might not b understanding the question right
